#badjonesrising #sketchbook #moleskine #handmade #collage #mixed media #artWell, I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day! It’s okay if you didn’t send me candy hearts because February is my birthday month and you have time to make up for it! Lol Please feel free to send me art supplies, beer, and plenty of love! Spring is right around the corner and I have noticed that my work is getting brighter! Is that even possible!? I always use so much color…
Maybe it’s the snow and too much cream in my coffee weighing me down, but I have been having a hard time with the sketchbooks lately. The January / New Year sketchbook has obviously rolled over into this month. My pages have gone from abstract and minimal to chaotic and full of crazy color combinations. I literally find a piece of scrap paper, glue it anywhere and work quickly to finish. I do each page in less than 10 minutes and it gives my book an completely look. I am not sure if I like the pages themselves, but they do give a very expressive vibe placed together.
Surprisingly, not being able to focus on one sketchbook or the other, I have set my eyes on my new Healthy/Get Fit art journal pages. They are loose leaf pages and anything goes as long as I leave room to actually write within the drawings and collages. (I think it’s helping, because I have lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks! Whoot whooot!) As far as other work, I have a really bright and crazy collage series going on. I’ll post pics of that soon. I also really want to paint. I want to paint something big. I mean, BIG. I have a huge canvas sitting, waiting to be finished. It’s around 5.5’ x 6’ and has been painted on at least 4 times. I just keep covering it with paint and layering collage on top. I think I might paint over it again and make it the fourth piece on my series. Who knows? I think it’s okay to get stuck sometimes, especially when it comes to art. When I finally figure things out, the end of the process feels so good. Looking forward to my birthday, Spring, and lots of new artwork. I just gotta get out of these winter blues. Wish me luck, because I am in a rut.
